Frederick Berlin Castleman (1882-1954)

Frederick Berlin Castleman (1882-1954) was the father of Fred Glenn Castleman (1927-1963)

When Frederick Berlin Castleman was born on August 5, 1885, in Rolla, Missouri, his father, Osborne, was 58 and his mother, Trithena, was 42. He married Lottie Cynthella Stites and they had nine children together. He then married Blanche Mildred Roques and they had two children together. He died on March 17, 1954, at the age of 68, and was buried in Lenox, Missouri.

Fred B was a farmer. One article in 1911 mentions that he had sold "cows from $40 to $47, a colt $105, sow and eight pigs for $40". The article called those "high prices".

According to his grandson Fred, "played a fiddle at barn dances where neighbors out in the country did square dancing". The Rolla Herald reported on New Year's Eve in 1935, that "Music was furnished by Ozark Orchestra composed of John and Joe Waltz, Walter Snelson, Richard and Fred Castleman. They played real live music which contributed greatly to the enjoyment of the dance."
